Introducing Eric Westendorf

Mr. Eric Westendorf joins River Valley School District from Pittsburgh Public Schools. Previously, he served as Principal and Assistant Director at Central Westmoreland Career and Technology Center and as a Teacher and Supervisor at Summit Academy. He earned degrees from Penn State and California University of PA. Let's learn more about our new Principal:

What do you enjoy most about being an educator?
Everything from my first day of kindergarten until today. As a lifelong learner and Principal, I have always loved being at school. Even principals learn something new every day!

What inspired you to become a principal?
My all-time favorite teacher, Mr. Mark Wyant, inspired me to become a teacher, and a void in leadership at Summit Academy inspired me to become that leader for my colleagues and students!

What is your vision for the school under your leadership?
To ensure that all students, faculty, and staff feel safe, supported, and well-educated!

What are your hobbies and interests outside of school?
My four sons' sports teams, sprint car racing, and all things Star Wars

What are you looking forward to this school year? 
Finally being here! I can't wait to be part of the River Valley Community!
