White House Cybersecurity Summit

Mr. Philip Martell, Superintendent of the River Valley School District, was invited to join leaders at the White House for a summit to establish best practices and recommendations for schools to protect their digital infrastructure against cyber threats. 

Superintendent Philip Martell represented River Valley School District at the event hosted by First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas. The event, “Back to School Safely: Cybersecurity for K-12 Schools,” aims to enhance school security and highlight resources available to the education sector.

River Valley School District News

Due to construction, only seniors will be permitted to drive to and from school at the start of the 23-24 school year. Juniors will be permitted to drive at a later date. 

Seniors interested in driving should contact the high school office at 724-343-3410 or stop in for an application before August 11.

RVSD at the White House

The River Valley School District was recognized at the White House for advancing career-driven education and workforce development. The U.S. Department of Education invited River Valley School District to join the Rural Community of Practice as an exemplary school district that reimagines how our nation’s high schools prepare students to thrive in their future careers. River Valley School District is one of only 11 school districts asked to participate in this nationwide initiative that connects leaders in education, government, and commerce to redesign education and workforce systems.

River Valley School District

The school board of directors of the River Valley School District approved a five-year collective bargaining agreement with the River Valley Education Association. The current agreement will end at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 school year, and the new agreement will go into effect for the 2024-2025 school year.
