Our Mission Statement 
The River Valley School District has an obligation to ensure that all River Valley students will have equal access to a high-quality education that will allow them to reach their full potential in all career paths that prepare them for the challenges of the 21st century and global economy. 
The River Valley School District is committed to being a high-performance organization focused on outstanding student performance, achievement, and preparation for a lifetime of success. Recently the River Valley School District was named one of the "Top 55 Performing School Districts in Pennsylvania" by Standard & Poor's. The River Valley School District was named an Academic Outperformer due to two consecutive years of a significantly higher percentage of students scoring proficient or above on Pennsylvania's reading and math tests. Standard & Poor's developed the analysis used to identify outperforming school districts to highlight outstanding academic performance and to help educators in school districts with similar characteristics identify appropriate benchmarks to guide their own improvements.
 River Valley School District is located along the scenic U.S. Route 22 corridor in southwestern Pennsylvania, approximately 45 miles east of the City of Pittsburgh. The district encompasses approximately 142 square miles in southern Indiana County and a portion of northern Westmoreland County, making us the second-largest school district in Indiana County. The 2000 Census reported that the district has approximately 16,000 residents.
The River Valley School District serves approximately 1600 students on three campuses that are located in Blairsville and Saltsburg. Students residing in Burrell and Black Lick Townships and Blairsville Borough in Indiana County attend the thirty-six acre Blairsville campus in Burrell Township, which is comprised of Blairsville Elementary School (PreK-5), Blairsville Middle School (6-8), Blairsville High School (9-12), and the district administrative offices. Students residing in Conemaugh Township, a portion of Young Township and Saltsburg Borough in Indiana County, and Loyalhanna Township in Westmoreland County attend the Saltsburg campus comprised of Saltsburg Elementary School (PreK-5) and Saltsburg Middle/High School (6-12), which are located in Conemaugh Township, Indiana County.

Jerome Bettis Visits River Valley Pep Rally

The River Valley Education Foundation received a $50,000 donation from Dick's Sporting Goods while the students received a visit from NFL hall of famer Jerome Bettis at a pep rally held September 17 at Memorial Stadium

River Valley School Wide Pep Ralley sponsored by Dick's Sporting Goods and the River Valley Education Foundation

We're excited to announce that this Friday, September 17th, DICK'S Sporting Goods is sponsoring a school-wide (6-12) pep rally for our student body. This pep rally will be held outdoors at Memorial Stadium. All students will be provided a free white-out t-shirt, a rally towel and clapper, all compliments of the DICK's Sporting Goods Foundation. The pep rally will have a DJ, recognition of fall sports teams, a check presentation, and a special guest speaker.
